Offline Marketing Tips: Offline Gold For Online Marketers
If you’re doing online or internet marketing business and want to learn how to promote your online business offline, you’ve come to the right place. In this article, I will share with you some tips I learnt from a book about selling your online marketing skills to local businesses.
The other day when I browsed around in the Warrior Forum, I stumbled upon a popupar post (with thousands of viewers) written by Andrew Cavanagh. The post is about how to make money by selling your online marketing skills to businesses right in you local city. This post went completely insane with thousands of views almost immediately and all kinds of positive comments.
Andrew has over 25 years of experience in developing small business and sales. So, he understands very well the NEEDS of small business owners.
If you’ve experience in building a small business before, perhaps you know that the average business owner is very busy just trying to keep his business running. He doesn’t have the time to take a long hard objective look at the way he could improve his marketing strategy. But he is also acutely aware that anything that can improve his nett profits will help to keep his business more stable and put real cash in his pocket! So most small business owners are well aware that they can always find time for someone who’s genuinely interested in improving their businesses and seemed to have the skill to do so.
Now if you’ve some basic online marketing skills and are willing to walk into a business and just have a casual conversation about how they can improve their sales with Internet, a good percentage of these small business owners will pay you.
In order to help online marketers (people like you and me) to understand the needs of brick & mortar business owners and the basic online marketing skillsets you need to communicate and convince them about your services, Andrew wrote a 50-page ebook that outlines step-by-step a proven system for everyone who is interested to learn how to sell his/her online marketing skills to local businesses.
When I saw his offer, I grabbed it immediately because I personally think that this ebook has the best value for money. It only costs me $19.99. But this is an introductory price, Andrew says he will raise the price to $67 very soon.

This ebook is consistent with my mindset. Like I mentioned in my self-introduction (or About Me) page… although a lot of our activities are sitting in front of a PC when we do online marketing, but it’s so important NOT to get stuck with your PC all the time because most of the great deals are actualy done offline. So if you want to take your online business to the next level, you must also do networking offline.
There are so many great tips discussed in “Offline Gold For Online Marketers” ebook. But of course after reading the book, you must get off your seat and follow the action plan outlined in the book otherwise it will be useless for you.
Here are some tips on how to find those small business owners and how to communicate with them…
I’m sure you’ve heard about Business Networking International (BNI). If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s basically a business and professional networking organization whose purpose is to provide a structured environment for the development and exchange of qualified business referrals. It’s the largest networking organisation of its kind in the world. You can find out more info in its website at www.bni.com.
If you live in a city, I’m sure you can find BNI there. They hold regular meeting and if you join their meeting, you will get to meet up with many small business owners or entrepreneurs. Make sure you bring a lot of business cards when you attend the meeting. The main purpose of the meeting is to network and get to know people. It’s a great avenue for you to get to know other entrepreneurs from many different fields.
Just get to know people and have a casual conversation with them. My favorite technique to communicate with small business owners is to always remember to ask questions! For example, let’s say he/she asks you first, “what do you do for a living?”. My normal answer for that question is… “I’m doing a home-based Internet business. How about you?”. Always remember to end your answer with a question. You need to get to know about your potential client and a great way to do this is to talk less and listen more (ie. ask more questions).
Ask them if their businesses currently have a website? Most of them don’t. For those who have websites, they have no idea what is online marketing and they have never made any sale from their websites. So, we the “ask-question-technique”, you’re always in a position to find out more and have the opportunity to introduce about your services. Remember not to talk too much about yourself. Focus on your potential client. it’s enough to say that you have a home-based internet business and you can also help small business owners to improve their nett profits through online marketing. “Do you think your business will do better if you have a website?”. Remember, always set yourself up in a information-gathering mood, the only effective way to do this is to “ASK QUESTIONS”!
