Internet Marketing Quick Start Guide - Part 2

Monetize your Traffic in Blogger Blog

In part 1, we use Blogger blog and EzineArticles.com to start our first journey in Internet Marketing and drive traffic to our blog. There are few reasons why we use Blogger: it’s very easy to use, it gets indexed quickly by the search engines (especially Google), and it’s FREE of charge. And the reason why we chose Ezinearticles to drive traffic to our blogger blog is because it’s an authority site in the eyes of all major search engines. It’s the best tool for article marketing. Most keywords-optimized articles in Ezinearticles directory are ranked very well by the major search engines such as Google and Yahoo.

If you read my article “Internet Marketing Quick Start Guide - Part 1” and follow the steps outlined there, you should have some traffic coming to your blog now. Remember in part 1 I mentioned that “consistency is key”, if you follow the steps outlined in part 1 and take consistent action, I’m sure your blog will have enjoyed some good traffic.

Now is the time to monetiza the traffic!

Typically there are two types of monetization you can use in blogger blog…

1. Google AdSense

2. Affiliate Products

Take a look at the screenshot of one of my blogger blogs below…

There are adsense ads on top of each article in my blog and there are many Links on the right side. These links are either pointing to my affiliate products or other sites. This is my favorite layout for monetization in blogger blog. You can also put your Adsense ads on the right side. It’s up to the individual’s preference. For me personally, I always choose the above layout as it works best for me. You can test other layout or template if you want.

Ok, now let me show you how to add Adsense ads and links to a blogger blog.

Here are the steps to add AdSense Ads in Blogger blog

1. Login to your blogger blog.

2. Once you log in, the first screen you’ll see is the Dashboard.

3. Now click on “Layout” and you should see something like the following…

4. Click on “Add A Page Element” under the header as shown by the red arrow in the above screenshot and you will see a window pop up.

5. Now click on “Adsense: Add to Blog”.

6. Next, you will need to select the format of your Adsense ad. For my layout, I always choose “468×60 Banner” which fit nicely below the header.

NOTE: Of course, you need to register for a Google Adsense account first before you can place add in your blog.

P.S. The steps to add LINKS to your blog is exactly the same as adding Adsense ad except that you will need to type in your URL in the URL field of a Link List. For example: if you’re promoting an affilate product, you need to put your affiliate link URL in that field.

Here are the steps to get your affiliate link or URL in Clickbank…

1. Go to clickbank.com

2. Click on “Sign Up” to register an account with clickbank (registration is FREE).

3. Now, log on to clickbank using your new account.

4. Once you’re in, click on “Marketplace”.

5. Now select a category. For example, since I have a Home Fitness blog, I will select category “Health & Fitness”.

6. Click on the “Go” button and you’ll be presented with a list of products to promote.

7. Browse through the products and select a few to promote. You can either click on “View Pitch Page” (to view the sales page of the product) or “Create Hoplink” (which is to create your affiliate link for that product).

8. After creating your “hoplink”, copy your affiliate link or URL, paste it into a text file and save it. You will then use this affiliate link to promote the product. Anyone purchase through your affiliate link, you will get a commission.
