Website traffic is undoubtedly the most important components of an online business. More website traffic means more ways for you to monetize it and convert into profit for your business.

Big companies that have a capital are spending thousands of dollars each month just to build website traffic (even without any profit initially). Because they know that long-term and consistent traffic is key to their success.

If you are a small player, perhaps you don’t have much capital to invest in building website traffic. Your goal should be to make profit as quickly as possible without breaking your budget.

Fortunately, there are many economical yet very effective ways for you to build website traffic for your online business. In this article, you will learn some of the key methods you can use to increase website traffic and make profit quickly.

Below is a list of 6 important methods you can use to increase website traffic without breaking your budget:

1. Write articles that are related to your site topic regularly. This method is very well-known, it’s not new but still very effective. And the best part is that it’s free! You do need to pay with your TIME though (you need to sit down and spend time writing the articles).

2. Pay Per Click (or PPC) Advertising. This is also a very popular method for generating website traffic BUT be aware that this is a paid method! Many people have lost a lot of money using PPC.

The main benefit of using PPC advertising is that you only have to pay for the traffic when people actually clicking on your ads. To maximize profitability, make sure you only target very specific keywords that are related to your offer. Targeting keywords that are too generic is a recipe for failure in PPC. So please remember this!

3. Take part in online communities and forums that are related to your site topic. Do your best to help and give useful answers to those who ask questions. Online forum is a great way to establish credibility. Besides able to increase website traffic, you can also use it to build relationships with your potential customers. You can also learn more about people needs and see how your product can fill their needs.

4. Add a WordPress blog on your website. Blog is a fantastic way for communicating with others and the search engines love blogs. I recommend you to read this book: “Bloggers Paycheck” before you set up your WordPress blog.

5. Use Social Networking sites. I know there are hundreds of social networking sites available and I don’t think anybody has the time to do social networking on all these sites. Personally, I just use two: Twitter and Facebook. I’m not going to discuss how to use Twitter and Facebook in this article as there are already many books on this topic. 6. Do you Squidoo? Squidoo is a high-traffic website that have hundreds of thousands of pages on hundreds of thousands of topics. The web pages in Squidoo are called lenses. Everybody can create their own lenses and yes, it’s FREE!
