AdWords Pay-Per-Click Advertising Tips

pay-per-click-advertisingAdvertising is a method used by business to reach potential customers. In the Internet Marketing or online business world, the most popular type of advertising is known as pay-per-click. And the most popular pay-per-click advertising is Google Adwords.

For many online business owners, Google Adwords is the most powerful method to reach hundreds of thousands of targeted customers quickly and test new market before developing new product. Adwords is a powerful tool for online business because there are literally millions of people using Google's Search Engine to look for information on the internet every day.

It's the fastest way to get traffic (visitors) to your web site. You can set up your ad campaign in few minutes and within seconds attract thousands of potential customers.

Words of Caution: Although Adwords is powerful, it's a double-edged sword. You have to know what you're doing. For many new online entrepreneurs, Adwords is a losing proposition. If you don't know what you're doing, Adwords can burn a big hole in your advertising budget.

Note: Before you start working on your adwords campaign, the first step is to learn how to play the adwords game. I strongly recommend you to read this book "Beating Adwords" written by Kyle and Carson first. This is a complete guide covers everything about Google Adwords from the basic to advanced level. It can save you a lot of money if you approach pay-per-click advertising the right  way from the very beginning. This ebook is the most comprehensive adwords guide on the internet right now.

Here are some tips or steps to create effective Adwords campaign that can save you from losing money:

1. If you have your own product to sell and write your own sales letter, focus on the benefits of the product and how they can help your customers to solve their problems. Do not use hype to sell! If you're selling other people's products, read and review their sales letter thoroughly, highlighting the benefits of the products and write a review page for the product you're promoting.

Note: If you want to learn how to write a sales letter or review that sells, I strongly suggest you to read this ebook "Make Your Words Sell" (written by Joe Robson and Ken Evoy). The skills to write good sales letter and product review are very important to your online success. And everyone can learn these skills.

2. Create your Ad Text (at leat two for split test purpose). Adwords provides 3 lines (rows) for your ad. You can only place a maximum of 25 characters on the first line and 35 characters on the second and third lines. When creating ad text, you must focus all your energy to come up with the best ads (those that people want to click on). This is extremely important in order to get high CTR.

3. Create the keyword list. Keywords are phrases used by web users to find what they're looking for. You need to create as many keywords as possible (100-200), analyze them, group related keywords together and select the best group of keywords to target.

Note: Keyword analysis can take up significant amount of time. In order to save time, you need to use automated keyword analysis tool. The tool I use is called "Keyword Elite". This tool is a major time saver. It can generate hundreds of keyword in few minutes, you can do many analyses such as demand & supply, keyword effectiveness index (KEI), pricing, competitive analysis, etc.. Without using an automated tool, you will waste a lot of time doing these analyses.

4. Next you need to analyze the competition and bid price for each keyword you want to target. Again to save time, I recommend you to use keyword elite. Click here to learn how I use Keyword Elite to do keyword competitive analysis.

5. Create Ad Campaign in Adwords (this is the easy part). Once you have created your ad campaign, ad group, daily budget and bid price, your ads are now active.

6. Tracking and Monitoring. You need to monitor what keywords are profitable and remove those unprofitable ones. You also need to monitor the CTR and conversion rate. All these are discussed in details in "Beating Adwords" ebook.

SUMMARY

Google Adwords can be a very powerful method for online business owners to put their offers or products in front of thousands of potential buyers instantly. But it has to be done properly otherwise it can burn a hole in your advertising budget.

Many people create their ad campaigns without paying much attention on the sales letter (or review page if you are an affiliate), ad text and keyword research. And this is a BIG mistake!  You can't make a profit if you just create ad campaign without first working on your sales process (ie. sales letter, ad text and targeted keywords).
